Applicants who have completed their 40 hours of training, who have their CDA, or who are credentialed Montessori teachers are given preference, but anyone is encouraged to apply.
The Spencer House values its teachers very highly...we pay above industry average and just as importantly strive to create an enjoyable work environment.
Teacher Appreciation Week 2006 was a good example of how our school and our parents feel about our teachers. As reported to our parents in the newsletter that month:
"Parent donations of several hundred dollars payed for a special lunch for the teachers from Harvest Thyme Cafe and for a gift bag for each teacher full of goodies and office supplies for their classrooms. The bags also had gift certificates from local businesses including Conestoga’s, Atlas Carpet, David’s BBQ, Hitchcock’s, Tanning Transitions, Subway, The Learning Path, Lighten Up!, and Harvest Thyme Cafe. The response from businesses was very gratifying. On Wednesday night the school treated the teachers to dinner at Stonewood Tavern in Gainesville. Of course a price cannot be placed on all the cards, presents, and flowers that went directly from you and the children to the teachers. Thank you so much for helping make sure they felt the appreciation they deserve!"
